How Similar is the dynamic in pond and in droplet?

The so general goal to reduce heating energy demand and CO2 emission of buildings, pushed to new approach. The well insulated zero energy building must cover several remaining needs (air renew, Heating lose, hot water, lightning..) so it must be a producing system by including renewable energy systems or interacting with other systems.

The weak efficiency of Photovoltaic cell and the conversion of most energy to heat push researchers, since beginning of 2000, to propose hybrid collectors. Such collectors are devoted to produce both electricity (PV) and heat by increasing the temperature of circulating fluid (water or air). However, the condensation induce malfunction and efficiency change.

Second dilemma is the non-fitting in time between the available energy and the needs (day/night and summer/winter). Therefore, what could be the storing strategy on the long-term heat storage if low cost/low tech.

To evaluate the thermal efficiency of such system a focus on the appropriate scale is needed. Nevertheless, remains the question of what is the appropriate scale study? What is similar and what is the main difference between so particular situations?

The flow structure and local change in heat transfer or conversion process will be directly related to the economic viability. The condition of appearance of the bifurcation or instabilities can be seen as reliability approach. From different cases, we will present some similarities between different situation and we will cover some new research action within the LMT.

We will avoid technological and economical discussion and the presentation will cover fundamental, academicals, and practical topics. Indeed, the nonlinear anisothermal flow (convection) encountered in such several converting system, in nature and industrial domains.

The subject is currently open for exploration; in order to enrich our knowledge of this complicated problem we will discuss the beauty of the physics.
