Towards Multi-Scale Identification

le 21 janvier 2016
13H30

Jan Neggers chercheur au LMT secteur Mécanique et Matériaux, interviendra lors du séminaire du jeudi à l'ENS Cachan.

The mechanics of most modern engineering materials is determined by their micro-architecture. The main philosophy of multi-scale material mechanics is decompose the mechanics of the constituents and the micro-architecture and then homogenize the micro-mechanics up to the application scale. This method has already proven itself on the modeling side for many materials, e.g. metals, composites, ceramics, etc. However, identifying the material and interface parameters for these micro-mechanics is still a challenge. Recent advancements in full-field experimental methods create an abundance of data richness which allow new methods of identifying previously inaccessible parameters. However, distilling the big data into the condensed set of material parameters is a challenge by itself.
